The Trans Himalayan Overland Safari

Experience a rich tapestry of landscapes and cultures, from the serene alpine lakes and snowcapped peaks of Kashmir to the stark, rugged terrain of the Drass Valley along the Drass Valley. Echoes of the Earth

The journey begins in Bhuj, the cultural heart of the Kutch region, where generations of artisans have preserved intricate weaving and embroidery traditions for centuries.

It then continues to the Little Rann of Kutch and the Wild Ass Sanctuary, a dramatic landscape of salt flats and seasonal wetlands that is home to wintering flamingos and the endangered Indian wild ass.

Further south, Blackbuck National Park in Bhavnagar district protects one of India's finest grassland ecosystems, renowned for its blackbuck antelope, as well as wolves, hyenas, jackals, and abundant birdlife.

  • As you move through this region, you encounter more than textiles—you witness living traditions shaped by landscape, migration, and memory. Natural dyes are prepared by hand, wooden blocks are aligned with rhythmic precision, and each embroidered motif reflects the cultural identity and stories of local communities. The journey continues into the surreal salt desert landscapes of the Little Rann of Kutch Wild Ass Sanctuary, where seasonal wetlands and vast salt flats support remarkable wildlife. During winter, flocks of flamingos gather across the shimmering landscape, while the sanctuary also protects the endangered Indian wild ass, one of the region’s most iconic species.

Our 11-Day West Greenland: Discovering Icebergs and Inuit Communities itinerary offers an immersive journey through West Greenland’s breathtaking fjords, towering icebergs, and vibrant coastal communities.

Explore Eternity Fjord, the rarely visited Itilleq Fjord, and the region’s highlights—Ilulissat, Eqip Sermia, and Uummannaq. Connect with Inuit culture, and cross the iconic Arctic Circle.

  • Begin your journey in Reykjavík before flying to Nuuk, Greenland’s colorful capital, where you’ll embark on your expedition. Explore the dramatic landscapes of Eternity Fjord, surrounded by towering mountains, glaciers, and pristine Arctic wilderness. Cross the Arctic Circle and visit Sisimiut, a vibrant Greenlandic community where local culture, history, and daily life come to life through guided walks and community interactions. Continue to Eqip Sermia, one of Greenland’s most active tidewater glaciers, where towering ice walls, drifting icebergs, and opportunities to spot humpback whales create an unforgettable Arctic experience.

    The modern and elegant Ocean Explorer is one of the newest additions. Spacious cabins feature bespoke Scandinavian design, most with verandas. Located at the bow is the two-story, light-filled library, which introduces a welcome airiness to the ship.

Sail on a voyage of a lifetime through the Pacific Islands of Oceania, where remote archipelagos reveal rare wildlife and pristine natural beauty. Explore hidden waterways on Zodiac excursions along tropical rivers, and experience the privilege of engaging with Indigenous communities across diverse Australasian cultures — where ancient traditions, living heritage, and island rhythms shape every encounter.

Visit idyllic islands and isolated villages where unique time-honoured traditions and elaborately costumed dancers welcome us into their world. Besides the culturally rich arterial course of the Sepik River, we sail across the Bismarck Sea, exploring remote shores. The indigenous people here still enjoy very traditional lifestyles. For instance, the Malaitan islanders still make and use shell money as a dowry, and wear it as a status symbol.
