An exhilarating way to explore remote villages in a world away from the highways. Mountain biking in the Indian Himalaya is on remote and rough roads in variable weather conditions allowing you to absorb the natural spectacular views at a leisurely pace.
With over 5000 kms of metalled and rough mountain tracks ranging in altitude from 400 to 5000 metres, a vast number of biking opportunities exist; from short day trips in the foothills to extended tours over the highest road passes in the world, there are tours to suit any biker, amateur or professional. For the serious mountain biker, the ultimate journey in India is on the Manali-Leh Highway.
Some classic mountain biking possibilities are Manali to Leh, Delhi to Kathmandu and the Kulu Spiti Kinnaur traverse.
We arrange other bespoke itineraries for professionals over rugged mountain trails from Spiti into Tso Moriri in Ladakh; or gentler biking trails in Rajasthan and South India. In Kerala, the carefully tailored 10-14 day tours take in the very best mountain biking in Kerala amidst some of the tea estates and coffee plantations of the Nilgiri hills.
Ibex can provide mountain bikes or if you are serious amateurs or professionals, you can bring your own from overseas. The tours have an Ibex vehicle following with staff, camp equipment, and repair equipment. The tour is based on camping nights interspersed with charming hotel nights where possible.
