Mandip Singh Soin FRGS Founder & Managing Director
Two roads diverged…
As he stood close to the summit of Black Peak at the age of 15, Mandip knew he was smitten by adventure and the great outdoors and was on ‘the road less travelled’. With a Masters in History from St Stephens College, Delhi University, he turned his passion into a career. Ibex Expeditions was born in early 1979 along with 3 friends - Rajiv Luthra, a lawyer, Manmohan Singh, an hotelier and Sunil Chandra, an academic. Continuing his adventure travel interests, Ibex transitioned to him and his wife Anita by 1992.
Besides arranging world class adventure and specialist tailor made holidays for enthusiasts from around the world, he has personally undertaken expeditions with a diversity that has helped him enhance the professionalism at Ibex. Life’s adventures drew him closer to saving the environment for future generations and his attention turned to ‘making a difference’ and embracing the advocacy of Responsible Tourism, Environment and Ecotourism with a deep passion.
Mandip continues exploring and discovering new adventures within India and in distant lands. Having travelled to over 30 countries, he keeps a keen eye on the changing face of tourism and the needs of the discerning traveller, incorporating this into the Ibex journeys.
Much of the Ibex success is attributed to the well qualified professionals who work hard to provide you with a first class experience. The Ibex guides are a bunch of exceptional individuals who are educated and have a wealth of experience, excel in wilderness skills and are good humoured. The field staff include guides, cooks and porters, ever striving to make the tour successful, braving all weather conditions. Not to be forgotten are the hard working office staff who keep the entire operation running. Their enthusiasm, hard work, attention to detail and willingness to help is valued highly.

Anita Singh Soin Director
An artists palette…
Having watched the world intensely, then having received a degree in Fine Art, Anita continues to explore her creativity and artistic eye, designing journeys that become works of art themselves.
Anita studied Art while she was at Welham Girls School followed by 5 years at an Art college, leading on to a design and creative writing career. She has embraced diverse travels and adventures accompanying Mandip and their two children Himali and Himraj, she penned wonderful travel stories of these exotic and distant lands visited, encouraging clients to share in these experiences.
She has the creativity to inject the unusual into the cultural and luxury journeys; detail of cuisine and comfort into the high adventures; and has a flair for choosing the right resort for the right client. She is the mind behind candle-lit dining at a camp and fine dining experiences in a palace. Anita finds artistic expression in the specialist journeys for guests where unique surprises are woven in, be it supporting a humanitarian action, or a Maharaja encounter with the panache and perfection of an artists palette.
Over the years, guests have become close friends, and continue to revel in the warmth of the hospitality and graciousness of Mandip and Anita. The same energy and talent lives on with the Ibex team, for whom each journey executed is their best, be it in the field, or behind the scenes. |
