Borneo

Borneo is the third largest island and home to Mt. Kinabalu and Rafflesia, the largest flower in the world. This country makes the traveller feel like a gnome, walking in mushroom rain forests and playing with Orangutans in Sepilok. More rigorous activities include rafting the Padas river and manoeuvring through the great bat caves of Sarawak.

October- March

Sarawak and Sabah are a naturalists dream. There are literally thousands of plants, hundreds of birds and a wide variety of wildlife including Proboscis monkeys, Macaques and the famous Orangutan. In Sarawak there are opportunities to learn about the indigenous culture including overnight in an Iban longhouse where tales of headhunting still abound. We trek through virgin rain forest and jungle trails, explore one of the world’s largest cave systems in Mulu National Park and ascend the razor sharp limestone pinnacles. Our adventure continues in Sabah, where we ascend high above the jungle canopy to the summit of Mount Kinabalu (4101m) before wandering trails through the forest reserves and visiting the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre.

Most visitors to Sabah’s Borneo visit to trek up Mt Kinabalu peak. Mt Kinabalu is a special peak in the clouds and stands at 4095 metres and is Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage site.

Sabah has an equally fascinating ethnic heritage, visibly distinct from the indigenous peoples further south. Sabah’s jungles may be wild and untamed, but they’re well worth it. Hike rainforest trails and watch the sunrise.

Explore a mystical land of incredible natural beauty and rare wildlife on this tour. With its collection of exotic animals, ancient traditions, hot springs, tribal villages, loveable orang-utans and incredible views, Sabah has something for everyone. Experience watching elusive sea turtles lay their eggs upon Turtle Beach and sharing laughs with local village hosts – every minute of this incredible adventure will stay with you for life.
