Announcing our ‘Once in a Lifetime Journey’ to Antarctica from 22 February – 06 March, 2017.

Led by mountaineer, explorer and environmentalist Mandip Singh Soin, this journey crosses the historic Drake passage and weaves along the Antarctic edge. There will be opportunity of seeing whales at close quarters off Zodiac boats and interacting with penguins. An epic, once in a lifetime expedition. Where we will also be supportive of Project 2041 which is led by Robert Swan to protect Antarctica from future exploitation when the Antarctic treaty is opened for renegotiation.

22 February – 06 March 2017

Dear Friends,

In 1989, I was fortunate to participate in an international, UN supported environmental expedition to the Arctic at 80 degrees North.

We studied the depleting ozone hole and other environmental impacts. This project was created by Polar explorer Robert Swan of UK and led me to take an “Earth Pledge” to be a good citizen of the Planet.

In 2015, almost 26 years later, our son Himraj went with the same Explorer, Robert Swan to the Antarctica to participate in an environmental initiative called 2041.

This is aimed at preventing the Antarctica from mining when the treaty is renegotiated in 2041. The prime strategy is to create an advocacy in our civil society that can lend support to this cause and help retain Antarctica as a pristine spot on Planet Earth.

In line with our support for the world environment, where we can hark back to the 3rd century Vedic “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which essentially implies the “Planet is my home”.

Ibex Expeditions is launching its journey to the Seventh Continent and I will be leading our contingent, assisted by Anita & Himali Soin of Team Ibex.

Join me on this ‘once in a lifetime’ journey to the Antarctica in February 2017.

There has been a lot of enthusiasm for this journey and we will open it out to the Ibex Explorers Fellowship as well as other like minded travellers beyond the Fellowship.

This spectacular journey begins on the 22nd of February in Buenos Aires, Argentina and after spending two nights here, we all fly in a chartered flight to Ushuaia to board the ship belonging to Quark, a leader in Antarctica journeys who Ibex has selected and is now associated with. This journey of 10 nights crosses the historic Drake Passage and weaves along the Antarctica edge.

We will have the opportunity of seeing whales at close quarters off Zodiac boats and interacting with penguins.

Ibex Expeditions is offering a special discount to those who book through us of US$ 1500 on the published rate for the standard Cabins and US$ 2000 on the published rate for the superior ones valid for a few months until cabins last.

I would appreciate if you can forward this information to selected friends and acquaintances whom you may feel would love to be part of this journey to a very special part of our Planet.

This YouTube link may be a good one to view which captures the essence of the Antarctic.

I’d like to finish with one of my favourite quotes by Mark Twain.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbor.

Catch the trade winds in your sails.
