Humanitarian & Voluntary tours
Voluntary & Humanitarian Tours

At Ibex, we take pride in immersing ourselves in meaningful humanitarian efforts, interactions with local communities, purchasing from Non Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), thus making a positive difference to the places we visit and the people we meet along the way. One can experience urban and rural volunteer projects and take part in local community development projects helping local people improve and manage their own futures.

The result of this approach is real and long lasting. Through our tours, we have benefited several hill communities in education, healthcare, environment, plantation of trees, and support during natural disasters like earthquakes. The purpose is both to meet real and immediate needs and the philosophical belief that all of us are here for the betterment of our environment and our fellow humans.

When working with us this, change can be brought about by volunteering your skills and experience for a few weeks or months or simply purchasing a silk scarf from a local weaver, or donating books to an orphanage. We will help you ensure that what you do is appropriate and sustainable.

In some tours in South India, Ibex has donated eye glasses to silk weavers or supported Tsunami affected families by providing skills and raw materials for their livelihood. We also provide well matched and prepared volunteers to work on-site to preserve and facilitate the quality of life for indigenous peoples in conjunction with local staff.

Ibex works to create, implement and maintain humanitarian projects in health care, education and community empowerment. Our projects support local communities by providing ongoing vitamin supplements, clothing and medicine to schools and orphanages in the areas where we send volunteers.

Ibex Expeditions has identified sites where responsible volunteering can be undertaken, be it in the Himalayan areas, Rajasthan or South India and even in the North East.

The humanitarian and voluntary tours enhance the India experience and offer the unique opportunity for volunteers and local people to engage in a truly life-enriching experience, working for the good of a community in need, forming friendships and invisibly feel the spirituality behind giving – thus creating better places for people to live and better places for people to visit.

"To work effectively for local communities, people & places works in full and open partnership with responsible and professional organisations who have close links to their own communities. These are the people who we’re proud to be in partnership with - they have a  wealth of experience in  travel and tourism. Our initial introductions to these vital relationships have come through Professor Harold Goodwin, our co-founder. His work as an acknowledged expert in responsible tourism brings him into contact with extraordinary individuals.

Those we work with have entered his ‘little black book’ because of their commitment to their communities and the objectives of responsible tourism – Mandip and Anita are two of those people – it is an honour to work with them. It is an honour to work with Ibex Expeditions."
