Adventure Escapes - mountaineering, trekking and adventure travel in the Indian Himalaya
Trekking in the Himalaya & other regions of India

If one were to view the entire Indian Himalayan chain of mountains on the Northern border, it has a single break where Nepal and Bhutan peer through. This entire stretch is over 2500 kms long and affords some of the most magnificent views of Himalayan peaks.

The topography changes from arid to lush and the villages and customs transform across states with varied landscapes within a single state and it isn’t simply landscapes alone that transform. Ibex has experience of each of the areas that we send you to, explored the intricacies of your journey first-hand, and now offer this magic to you.

The trekking season is best between May and October in the Western Himalaya and from October to April in the Eastern Himalaya. You will be warmly hosted by our friendly crew who set up comfortable camping tents using only the best - North Face, Marmot, Wild Country, Vango. The local guides or trek escorts are people from the area and engage with the local communities to enhance your experience in understanding the rural communities and folklore.

Jammu & Kashmir - Ladakh & Zanskar & Nubra Valley
Jammu and Kashmir mothers the provinces of Ladakh and Zanskar, lined with towering brown and purple mountains; Srinagar, in the neighbouring Kashmir valley, cradles rich green valleys; the remote Kishtwar region appears as a sea of marigolds; the Nubra Valley is speckled with purple heather, and all these, in their resplendent beauty form the historic Silk Route.
Uttarakhand – Garhwal & Kumaon
The Garhwal valley is known for its dense forests, flower-filled alpine meadows and towering peaks. Cradle of the Ganges, it is a region steeped in the lore of Hindu mythology, exquisite landscapes and mountain vistas. The Kumaon has numerous treks with views of the Nanda Devi and Panchuli ranges. Some treks follow in the footsteps of early explorers such as Frank Smythe, Lord Curzon and the Shipton Tillman trails. The four most sacred and revered Hindu temples - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are nestled in these mighty mountains.
Himachal Pradesh – Kulu, Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti
In Himachal Pradesh, the alpine Kulu valley is rich in pine and deodar forests, apple and fruit orchards, rhododendron, crimson and buttercup meadows. One can cross high passes to enter the newly opened areas of Spiti and Kinnaur that give rise to a more rugged, grand panorama.
Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh
Sikkim, known as the last Shangri-La, is the land of monks, monasteries, orchids and exotic wildlife. The area of Arunachal Pradesh in the North East is relatively unexplored and offers short treks and is botanically rich with hikes through dense rain forests with over 1000 varied plant species rarely found elsewhere in the world. The tropical and semi-tropical climate of the area has favoured the growth of a spectacular range of over 500 species of orchids alone.

"We have all come home with our heads and hearts full.  I know many have already said they can’t wait to return!  The guide was gentlemanly, solicitous and good-humoured throughout. He read each one of us very well, and dealt with our different fears and phobias with great tact and firmness.
So, for all this, thanks to you and your wonderful team."
